What is Inquisitive Minds? A workshop for adoptive parents of young children (ages 3-7)
This is a workshop for adoptive parents of young children to aid in building a positive understanding of adoption. As preschool children become more curious and talkative most adoptive
parents find themselves feeling uncertain at times about the best way to address adoption:
♦ Should we get into it now or wait until she's a little older?
♦ How much information is enough at this age? How much is more than he is ready to absorb?
♦ Are we talking about it too much or too little?
♦ If she is showing us what she feels about being adopted through her play or challenging behavior, what
should we do?
Research on this workshop has shown that parents come away feeling more knowledgeable and better prepared to address their child's experience of adoption. What they learn has an impact on their perception of their child months later.
