The In-Home Parent Education and Supported Visitation program is an 8 week program to provide intensive and individualized parent-child visit services to families whose children are in foster care and where reunification is the case goal, or to families who are involved with Children's Protective Services (CPS) prior to removal.
The Parent Education portion focuses on the following areas: parent skills, life/home management, and parent/child interaction skills. Feedback to parents is aimed at debriefing, reflecting, and discussing the parent's parenting skills.
The Supported Visitation portion focuses on role modeling of positive parenting skills and parent/child interactions with instruction of appropriate skills/techniques through supported visits between parent and child in the home. General activities include providing in-home parenting education, observing parent-child interactions, and giving helpful feedback to the parent before and after each session.
The Bavolek Nurturing Parenting Program is the curriculum model and the Adult-Adolescent Parenting Inventory (AAPI) and Nurturing Skills competency Scale are used as assessment tools for the development of service plans and to measure client progress.
